Brian J. Dwyer – In Memoriam

(December 2021)  Families Helping Families has suffered a devastating blow in the sudden loss of our partner and founding board member Brian J. Dwyer.  We deeply and forever mourn him for his unending kindness, good humor, and support.  To help keep his memory alive FHF is accepting donations to the Brian J. Dwyer Memorial Scholarship to provide free advocacy services to low-income families.

Brian J. Dwyer, 61 of Staten Island, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Staten Island University Hospital South.

Born Sunday, January 17, 1960 in Staten Island, New York, he was the son of the late Edward Dwyer and Florence Leng Dwyer. Brian, a lifelong Staten Islander attended New Dorp High School. After graduation, he worked as a Heat Plant Technician with the New York Housing Authority. Brian was on the Board of Directors and active part of Families Helping Families.

Brian was an avid Mets fan and cherished spending time with his family.

Brian was the devoted husband of 23 years to Andrea Lella. Loving father to Gregory Scott, Zachary Lella, and Cassandra Lella. Cherished brother to Elaine Dryden, Kevin, Shawn, James, Catherine Lindsay and the late Christopher. Brian is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
